About the exhibition and my art
Barry Passchier creates textile art. Her mainly hand-sewn (patchwork) constructions consist of playful coloured shapes and lines. The compositions present themselves naturally in a process of searching, choosing, observing, creating, resting and experimenting in her studio in Nieuwerbrug, the Netherlands.
She discovered making art with textiles about 10 years ago. Inspired by the material and the work of other artists, she initially created small still lifes with an abstract composition as a background. Due to her need to experience more freedom in the creative process, her works have become more abstract, free and spontaneous. Her background as an architect is still visible in her work and is particularly reflected in the graphic appearance, that in a distant way, resemble architectural drawings.
You're invited to House of Arts in Woerden on Saturday afternoon, June 6th, to bring the exhibition to a festive close between 2 pm and 4 pm!
The art shop of Woerden
Next to the exhibition, the shop offers unique and original works of art, each handmade by different artists. Bronze sculptures, ceramic sculptures and (garden) objects, poems, photographs, paintings and much more.
House of Arts is also the workspace of ceramicist Heleen van Ulden. If you visit the exhibition, you can often see her at work here. Heleen mainly creates animal heads in combination with natural materials.
